MRPOA Annual Weed Control Program (Common Areas & City Medians)
The McCormick Ranch Property Owners’ Association, Inc. (MRPOA) conducts an annual weed control program in common areas throughout the Ranch and in the City of Scottsdale medians. This program covers both turf and desert landscaping.
Our goals are to:
-
Control noxious weeds
-
Maintain safe, healthy turf
-
Protect trees and shrubs
-
Treat olive trees to help prevent olive production during this period
Control Measures
Weed control methods may include:
-
Mechanical trimming
-
Hand removal of weeds
-
Application of herbicides
Herbicide applications include a light green dye in the solution. This dye helps crews clearly see where product has already been applied, supporting even coverage and helping prevent over-application.
Treatment begins: Monday, January 26, 2026
All turf areas will receive treatment. Spraying will begin in the northern Ranch (Paradise Park Trails) and move south throughout the week, concluding in the Paseos (Paseo Village).
Safety Precautions
All herbicides used by MRPOA contractors are EPA-approved. Current registration numbers include:
-
53883-429 – Pre-emergence control of grass and broadleaf weeds
-
34704-120 – Control of broadleaf weeds in turf and non-crop areas
-
81880-1-10163 – Control of nutsedge and other weeds in turfgrass and landscaped areas
Applications are performed under the supervision of licensed, bonded, and insured contractors.
MSDS information is available at the MRPOA office.
Timing of Treatment
Applications are typically performed in the early morning or mid-day, when winds are usually light. Exact dates and times may change based on:
-
Weather conditions
-
Wind direction
Watch for Signs
Please avoid newly sprayed areas for 48 hours following treatment.
Temporary signs will be posted at major public entrances while herbicide application is in progress. Signs will be removed when it is safe to re-enter treated areas.
